10 Reasons To Ride In Ontario In 2009

Now is the perfect time for dreaming of summer and planning rides. This is an excellent year to choose riding adventures in our own back yard. Ontario is underrated as a riding destination – with a plethora of natural wonders, varied scenery and terrain, authentic heritage experiences and best of all – the diversity, generosity and hospitality of our people.

As you’re planning, consider these facts:

  1. A section of travel through Algoma has been designated one of the top 10 rides in Canada.
  2. Old-growth pine trees in Temagami can be over 10 stories tall and a meter in diameter. The air is different. Imagine riding and staying amidst them.
  3. Beaver Valley with breathtaking vistas, sweeping turns, waterfalls, quaint hamlets.
  4. Rideau Canal - Ontario’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site, Many of the lock stations remain virtually as they were when built over 176 years ago – peaceful and secluded havens that take you back to the 19th century.
  5. Niagara Falls and the Niagara Parkway – combines natural beauty, history and charm.
  6. Niagara Escarpment Biosphere Reserve. This natural terrain results in a fabulous riding experience that stretches from the Falls to Manitoulin and St. Joseph Island.
  7. Aurora Borealis – also called “Dance of the Spirits” by the Cree – best observed in northern latitudes in late summer/early fall.
  8. Haliburton Highlands and Eastern Ontario - You can feel the air become softer, fresher, and cleaner as you approach. Lakes and streams emerge as you pass through granite walls lining the road.
  9. Hills of Headwater area – truly my own back yard and easily accessible from Toronto – Hockley, Caledon, Ontario’s badlands.
  10. 4 Great Lakes – Ontario, Erie, Huron and Superior – with thousands of kilometers of spectacular coastline riding.

Bonus: Each of these experiences are included on one or more of our rides – and that’s only the beginning of an unforgettable time. We bring together the best people and the best of Ontario. A day, a weekend or a week nourishes the soul and whets the riding appetite.
